 Grandview, MO Minimize

 Update 4/14/10

Grandview passed BSL in a (more or less) secret meeting with no public input.  The meeting notice was posted at city hall 24 hours before the vote.  While this technically meets the Sunshine Law provisions it is an underhanded way to do business.

At this point, there seem to be little support for a change in policy within the current council.

WARD II

Debra McKinstry -

Annette Turnbaugh - - Ms. Turnbaugh owns a purebred Arabian Horse and 3 Cats. She feels as if animal control serves a good place in public safety but is occassionally "over zeolous" in their actions. She feels as if Grandview is pet friendly. She feels that pets are better off and have a better quality of life if they are altered. She does not oppose TNR programs. As for pet limits, she feels that as long as all pets are well-cared-for and not disturbing anyone in their neighborhood, we should leave them alone. She acknowledges that all 'pit bulls' are not bad, and notes that the city's current breed ban "should be repealed -- with exceptions".

WARD III

Tony Preyer

James N. Crain  - Up for re-election un-opposed.  Crain is a dog owner and believes in a lot of No Kill philosophies. He favors voluntary spay/neuter programs and is helping to promote a new dog park in Grandview.  However, he seems to not be well-educated on TNR programs for cats and voted in favor of the city's current ban on 'pit bulls'.  Crain did respond to our members emails regarding a Grandview resident that was being harassed by animal control but still supported their pit bull restrictions.
