Olathe has another round of elections in 2011 -- however, all four of the candidates are running unopposed. The candidates with asterisks (*) are up for re-election, but seem primed to win without opposition.
Mayor
*Michael Copeland
-- Voted against breed specific legislation in 2005 when the current breed neutral ordinance was adopted -- but was in favor of bringing the topic up again in 2006 after a couple of high profile attacks -- expressing a desire to keep "those people" out of his community. Copeland has consistantly voted in favor of breed-neutral ordinances....but has also consistently been interested in "looking into" breed specific laws.
At Large
*John Bacon -
- Has consistently voted in favor of BSL when it comes up in the community.
Bob Montgomery - Voted in favor of a breed ban in 2005, but voted to keep the breed neutral ordinance in 2006 when it came up again. He kind of sits on the fence on this issue.
Ward 1
*Larry Campbell - Stance Unknown
Ward 2
*Jim Randall -

- Gave a very passionate speech about the whole topic when this has come up. He gets the entire concept of why breed specific legislation is an ineffective solution.
Ward 3
Ron Ryckman
- when questioned about his stance on the city's breed neutral ordinance, he admitted that he did not know much about the issue -- so he promptly called the city's shelter where they explained the law to him. He says he agrees with the current breed neutral ordinance and that it seems to be working well. He's an owner of an aging Cocker Spaniel and a dog lover.
Ward 4
Marge Vogt

- Marge has repeatedly fought against other members of the council who have proposed breed specific laws. She is a strong proponent of the city's current breed-neutral ordinance. She has also attended a seminar done by a local veterinarian and KCDA member on the Language of dogs/bite prevention.
